Margaret M. Gallagher (nee Oppelt) died on October 3, 2016. She was 97 years old.
She was the wife of the late John A. Gallagher.
She is preceded in death by Patricia Gallagher (daughter), Rose Henry (sister), Laverne Petersen (brother-in-law), and Sister Margaret Patrick Gallagher, SCN (sister-in-law).
She is survived by her daughters, Eileen and Joe Roberta, Kathie and Steve Lower, Mary and Bill Perry, Judy and Ed Zadjura, Sharon and Kevin Owens, and her son, Jim and Susan Gallagher, 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Betty Petersen, and her brother, John and Mary Oppelt.
Margaret lived most of her life in Dundalk, MD as a member of St. Rita’s parish. She was very active in the St. Rita’s school, Sodality, and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
As the mother of 6 children, she devoted her life to their well-being and took pride in all of their accomplishments. In addition, she was a school and charter bus driver. She was an avid reader and loved to play cards.
Margaret lived a simple life that was full of family and friends. She believed that Happiness was not having the best of everything, but making the best of everything you have. She leaves behind a legacy of family and love.

The family will receive friends at the family owned and operated CONNELLY FUNERAL HOME OF DUNDALK, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday 10am at St. Rita Catholic Church. Interment following at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
