August John Mecler

On January 10, 2018, August John Mecler at the age of 98 passed away due to complications from surgery. Gus, as he was affectionately known, served our country in WWII and was a POW for 6 1/2 months. He is predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen (nee Backof). He is survived by his two loving daughters, Deborah A. Vermette and Joann K. Peyton; devoted son-in-laws Mark A. Vermette and Ronald W. Peyton. Also survived by estranged daughter Barbara J. Peterson; Loving grandfather of 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Family will receive visitors at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk, MD 21222, on Sunday from 4-8 PM.  A service to celebrate August's life will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
