Betty was born in Baltimore Maryland to Robert and Lois Burns of Dundalk Maryland. Betty is preceded in death by her former husband’s Gordy Willey Jr. and Charles (Chuck) Braunschweiger, her sister Patricia Galvez and brother Robert Burns Jr. She is survived by her husband Roger Dale Thomas, her sister Gerogie Anna Burns and her Five Children Sharon Dianne Harlan, Gorinia (Bunny) Jenny, Gordy (Duke) Willey III., Eugene (Barry) Willey and Sandra Tabares. Betty had fourteen grandchildren: Joe Lee McDaniels, Rickey Lee McDaniels, William Robert (Billy) McDaniels, Gordon Davis McDaniels, Eric Jason Harlan, Sara Ann Harlan, Jason Willey, Jeramie Willey, Jenniffer Willey, Chris Willey, Nathaniel Tabares, Zhandra Raver, Rhyan Tabares and Eufemia Tabares. Betty had eighteen great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.

Betty was a mother and homemaker; she was a substitute teacher in Baltimore City Schools # 6 and #23. Betty was also a private duty nurse and a community activist. She managed a band in the 1960’s known as “Abstract Cherry. Betty also appeared in several John Waters films and worked alongside Johnny Depp and other notable Hollywood personalities. Betty was devoted to her children to a fault and greatly loved her many grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Rd. on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A funeral service for Betty will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, 10 am. Interment to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
