Brenda Jane Freeberger, born May 18, 1956, passed away on April 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of deep love, unwavering faith, and a family she chose and cherished as her own.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Jane Brooks; her beloved aunts, Lena Swiger and Lura Swiger, who were far more than aunts and served as guiding, motherly figures throughout her life; and her fiancé, Gene Baker.
She is survived by her devoted sisters, Linda Humphrey (Jim) and Anita McNeil (Robert), along with a large and deeply connected family who were the center of her world.
Linda's children include Tiffany (her husband Daniel and their son Jackson), Megan (her husband Danial and their sons Dalton and Maverick), Johnny (his wife Teresa) and Dustin.
Anita's children include Kenny (his wife Kimberly and daughter Destiny) and Eva Joy (her husband David and their sons Moshe' and Shlomo).
Though Brenda had no children of her own, she poured her life into those around her in a way that made titles like "aunt" feel far too small. Tiffany, Megan, Kenny, Eva Joy, Johnny, and Dustin along with their spouses Daniel, Danial, Kimberly, David, and Teresa, became the children she never had but always loved as her own. Her nieces and nephews were, in every meaningful way, her grandchildren, and she loved them with a fierce, joyful, and constant devotion.
Brenda found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking for others, taking time to get her nails done, and serving faithfully as a praise and worship leader at her church. Her voice, both in song and in spirit, reflected the depth of her love for Jesus.
One of Brenda's greatest joys was traveling to Kentucky to be with her Kentucky family. Those visits were never just visits. They were reunions filled with laughter, stories, meals shared around the table, and time spent pouring into the people she loved most.
She treasured every moment with her Baltimore family and her Kentucky family and made each person feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.
Above all, Brenda loved the Lord with her whole heart. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided the way she loved others. While her love for Jesus was first, those closest to her knew just how near behind were Jackson, Dalton, Maverick, Destiny, Moshe', and Shlomo, who brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
Brenda's life was defined not by circumstance, but by the way she chose to love. She created family wherever she went, nurtured relationships with intention, and left a mark on each person lucky enough to know her.
To honor Brenda's life, a public viewing will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Tuesday May 5, 2026, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM with a funeral service beginning at noon. Interment will follow the service at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 E Padonia Road 21093.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Brenda's name can be mailed to Patapsco United Methodist Church, 7800 Wise Avenue, Dundalk MD 21222.
She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and remembered for the love she gave so freely and so completely.
