Carol Esther Mihalik, 84, passed away unexpectedly December 9th, 2023 at Tidal Health Hospital in Salisbury MD. She was born March 14th, 1939, at 36 Liberty Parkway in Dundalk, MD.
The daughter of the late Hilbert R. Leaverton and Elenor I. Mikula "Finch" and step daughter to the late William Mikula.
Carol graduated from Dundalk High School, Class Of 1957 where she was on the swim team, participated in water ballet, synchronized swimming, and was a majorette. Carol also received several metals for diving.
The loving mother to Robert Venuto, Jr. and his wife Kimberly, Beth Ott and her husband Wayne, Mary Smith and her husband Daniel, and a loving step mother to Robin Black and her husband Joseph.
A devoted grandmother to Kayla Drury and husband Michael, Jadyne Ott, River Smith, Alyssa Stumpf and husband David, Jason Venuto and wife Madison, Anthony Venuto and Michelle Shannon, Eric Ratliff and wife Dakota, Lyndzie Schaefer and husband Jack, Ryan Ratliff, Megan Paul and husband Joe, Kathleen Wenck and husband Kevin and seventeen great grandchildren; Jonathan, Jordynn, Michael Scott, Dezerae, Caidynze, Brody, Aceylnn, Emmett, Wyatt, Walker, Ellianna, Korbin, Savanna, Miranda, Logan, Oliver, and Brooklynn along with two more great grandchildren on the way.
Carol is survived by her six siblings who she adored, Sally Newberry, Paula Rothe, Shery Mikula, Eddie Mikula, Johnny Mikula, and Jimmy Mikula. As well as many nieces and nephews.
She will be exceptionally missed by her furry friends, Asher, Abby and Hello Kitty.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John W. Mihalik and her grandson Scott E. Weaver Jr. "Scottie".
Carol married the love of her life, John, on August 10th 1985. The two relocated from Dundalk to the Eastern Shore in 2000. They remained happily married until John’s death in 2012. Although he was gone from the physical world, Carol never let the memory of her husband fade.
Carol retired from Johns Hopkins where she worked as a medical secretary for many years. She was a people person so she loved being able to meet new people every day.
While Carol had many hobbies and things she enjoyed, being a Grandmother and Great Grandmother was her favorite, and something she always took pride in.
Carol could light up a room with her bright smile and her never ending humor. She always had a funny story or a joke to tell.
A loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend to all, she will truly be missed.
Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A funeral service celebrating Carol's life will be held Thursday at 11AM at the funeral home officiated by Deacon Herman Wilkins. Interment will follow at Moreland Cemetery.
