Charles Raymond Allen

It is with a truly heavy heart that we announce the passing of Charles Raymond Allen on the 23rd of January 2024.

Preceded in death by his Wife Rosalie Allen; Long Time companion Joanne Shindledecker; Children, Susan Salvati and husband Raymond; Marsha Wolf and husband Hugh; Rose Dehn.

Charles Allen affectionately known as Ray, Pop, and Poppop Peaches touched many lives during his "Good Long Life" of 95 years. He was a humble, hard working family man, who after serving in the Army during WWII, working for Standard Oil and retiring from Seaboard Steel as a truck driver, enjoyed the simpler things in life. A modest man who took great pleasure in gardening, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of gardening as well as his harvest. He enjoyed his coffee and newspaper in the morning, chicken from Popeyes and lunch at Squires. Above all he enjoyed spending time with family, whether gathered around the dining room table, out at the picnic table shelling beans, or telling us about the antique whirly ornaments on his Christmas tree.

He was the one steadfast person in our lives, the most dependable, he never let us down and was always there for us. He is deeply loved, and will be missed by all who have encountered him.

Charles "Poppop Peaches" is also survived by Grandchildren Casey Salvati; Jenny Foltz and husband Jay; Carol Salvati; Sarah Wolf; James Schroeder; David Brennan and fiance Crystal. Great Grandchildren Kevin, Billy, Nathan; Chrissy, Michael, Eugene; Bekah, Jarod; Austin; Great Great Grandchildren Bentley; Isaac; Maddie; Willow; MJ; Caeden; Julia; Sophia; Niece "little" Debbie; as well as many other nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a public viewing at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7710 Sollers Point Road, Friday 26th January from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday 27th January at 10:00am at the funeral home then graveside at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
