It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darryl James Welsh, who left us peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on January 13, 1953, in Maryland.

Darryl was a dedicated family man and a proud husband to his beloved wife, Donna Welsh, with whom he shared an incredible 49 years of marriage. He was the loving father of his late son, Darryl Joseph Welsh, and a cherished uncle to nieces, nephews, cousins and friends: Matthew, Mark and Wayne Welsh, George, Johnathan, Brian and Andrew Ganzzermiller, Karen Ganzzermiller-Zuromski, Henry, Rachel and Abigail Welsh, Shauna, Warren, Ethan, Lena Bullard, Ava, Cara and AJ Ganzzemiller. Mark, Shannon and Michael Shiflet. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Joseph Bruce Ganzzermiller (wife Phyllis) and sister-in-law Patricia Ganzzermiller, who will miss him dearly.

For 44 years, Darryl dedicated himself to his work at the Sun Paper. Outside of work, he had a passion for cars, horror movies, and hunting for treasures at flea markets. Many cherished moments were spent with family on vacations at Ocean City, MD, and Wildwood, NJ.

A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 1727 Lynch Rd, Baltimore, MD 21222, on June 23, 2026 beginning at 10:30 AM, where family and friends can gather to celebrate Darryl's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gilchrist Hospice.
