David Brian Paul (Dave), 66, of Dundalk, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

From the time of diagnosis, David lobbied legislators at all levels of the state and federal government to pass funding for Parkinson's Research. He never gave up hope that better medical treatment and a cure was within reach. He also took every opportunity presented to him to help others understand the daily life of a Parkinson's patient.

As a teenager, David's work mowing lawns and doing odd jobs was universally admired for his attention to detail, a trait that he brought to his work during his entire life. He loved crabbing, shooting hoops, and hanging out with neighborhood friends. He graduated from Patapsco High School in 1977. Following graduation, he worked at Bethlehem Steel for several years before going to school to become an electronics technician.

David worked for the Maryland Transit Administration, repairing equipment on the Light Rail lines. His job gave him the rare opportunity to discover all parts of Baltimore City, and he discovered and shared the best places to visit. If you were in Baltimore and lost, he could tell you the way to your destination without a map. He loved the Broadway Market, enjoying the food and learning about the stands. Most of all, he liked feeling the grit of life in Baltimore and talking to people from all walks of life.

David's family was his pride and joy. He was predeceased by his father, Willis and his mother Alma and sister, Patricia. Dave loved being a father to his son Jonathon and his daughter Kelli. He remained close with his former wife, Kimberly. Together, they were by his side during his last days and listened to his favorite blues music. The birth of his grandson, Jaxson, brought him great happiness. He is survived by his sister, Sharon. He also enjoyed getting to know Jaxson's siblings, Emily and Ayden and their mother Mindy.

Love of music, especially the blues, was always present in David's life. He played the trumpet and the electric guitar. He contributed to a blog for one of his favorite blues guitarists, Stevie Ray Vaughn. Among musicians he adored were B.B. King and Eric Clapton. Dave could often be heard singing and playing his electric guitar. He loved live entertainment, and if there was a blues artist in town, he and his friend Gary would likely be found in the audience. He could also be found during lunchtime at a used record store pouring over vinyl or CDs.

A public viewing will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road on Wednesday, August 12 from 4-7 PM. A funeral service will be held the following day at Connelly Funeral Home on Thursday August 13, at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, 7225 Eastern Ave, Baltimore 21224.
