Obituary

Dimitrios "Baba" Mathioudakis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on June 7, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on September 27, 1956, in Greece.

Baba is survived by his loving wife, Eva Mathioudakis and their children: Kitsa and her husband Tom Peterson, Nestor and his wife Felicia, Demetra and her husband Don Quigg, Christopher and his wife Crystal, and Elias. He was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren: Alleah, Nick, Dominic, Anastasia, Alexandria, Lalia, Vasia, Thalia, Dimitri, Evan, Alexander, Joshua, Mason, Dimitrios, and Calyanah. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will be held dear by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Baba was a fighter in every sense of the word. Even during his illness, he never wanted to give up. He lived by the principles he taught his family: never say "I can't," never quit, and always keep moving forward no matter how difficult the challenge. His strength, determination, and perseverance became a lasting example for everyone who knew and loved him.

He was a man with a huge heart who loved his family dearly. Through life's many ups and downs, one thing never changed-his love for his family. No matter the disagreements or challenges that arose, family always came first. He taught us that success is not measured by the things we own, but by the kind of person we become.

A talented musician, Baba enjoyed playing the bouzouki and singing, bringing joy and laughter to family gatherings. He was also a hardworking businessman who proudly owned and operated his own pizza and sub shop. Gifted with his hands, he could fix almost anything and was always willing to help someone in need. Many of the skills and values his children carry today were learned directly from him.

As a father and grandfather, he provided guidance, wisdom, and support. He taught valuable lessons about life, family, hard work, and responsibility. Whether offering advice, answering questions, or simply being present, he was always there when needed. One of the greatest gifts he gave was his encouragement, often expressing how proud he was of the people his children had become.

The final weeks of his life brought both sadness and unexpected blessings. Family gathered together during some of the darkest moments, creating memories that will be cherished forever. There was laughter, tears, cooking, storytelling, joking, smiling, and an overwhelming sense of love. Those moments were powerful reminders of the bond he created and the family he held together.

While our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort knowing he is no longer in pain. We are grateful for every moment shared, every lesson taught, and every memory made. His love, strength, and spirit will continue to guide us.

Family and friends are invited to join together to honor Baba. A public viewing will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Wednesday June 10, 2026, from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM and 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. A Mass in his memory will take place at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 520 Ponca Street, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Baba, we love you. We always have, and we always will. Thank you for everything you taught us, for every sacrifice you made, and for every moment you shared with us. We know you will continue to watch over your family and remain with us wherever life takes us.

Though you are gone from our sight, you will never be gone from our hearts.

Rest in peace, Baba.
