Doris M. Meyer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on December 10, 1929, in Maryland, Doris embodied compassion, generosity, and a deep love for her family and community throughout her life. She was the cherished daughter of Earl and Mildred Bauer and she spent her early years working on the family farm, fostering a lifelong love for nature and gardening.
Doris was married to her late husband, Miles Meyer, and together they shared a wonderful life filled with travel, adventure, and countless memories. Her passion extended to many areas in life-she found joy in vegetable gardening, nurturing flowers, sailing, painting, and most importantly, spending quality time with her family.
As a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Doris actively participated in church activities and enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher.
Doris leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She is survived by her three daughters, Valerie Johnson (Bob Dearing), Mila Going (Keith), and Doris Hook (Ed), along with her late daughter Melody Phillips (Gerald). She was a proud grandmother to Jeff Phillips, Sarah Spalding, Lauren Going, Erica Hook, Katie Thompson, Eddie Hook, and Megan Derrington, and she delighted in the joy brought by her 13 great-grandchildren. She will so be missed by her brother, Lee Bauer.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during public viewings at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM and 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. A Mass in her honor will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church, 7801 North Point Road, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery, 7225 Eastern Avenue.
In this time of sorrow, we find comfort in the cherished memories of Doris and the love she shared with all who knew her. May her spirit continue to inspire and guide us.
