It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edna H. McCrindle who departed this life on September 18, 2026, at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She was born on March 20, 1933 to the late Adam Hall McCrindle and Matilda Kerr (Thomson) in Ayr, Scotland then moving to Prestwick, Scotland.

Edna immigrated to the United States in 1947 with her Father, and 2 older sisters. They first arrived at Ellis Island on the Mauretania Ship, then relocated to Shepardstown, WV and lived there several years before moving to Washington, DC.

Edna worked for The World Bank, the Department of Transportation in Division of Commerce under a British Chap. She retired from there October 2012 to take care of sister Muriel. She is predeceased by her Mother who died before the family immigrated to the US, her father, her oldest sister, Sheila McCrindle Wilson who died in 1992, and older sister Muriel McCrindle who died in 2012.

Edna lived at The Wisconsin House for over 50 years, only a few blocks from The Washington National Cathedral. She could hear the Bells chiming if her windows were opened. You could see The Capitol, The White House and The Washington Monument from her apartment windows! Edna was a proud Scottish citizen who had a picture on her end table in the living room of Prince Charles when he was a young lad! She traveled to Nairobi, Denmark, and other destinations. Survived by cousins Lorna Carter and Alison Pillinger, and Friend Jean Kerr in Prestwick, Scotland. Edna had no living relatives in the US but good friends, Wendy Lewis and Scotsman, Ron Wardrope. Edna traveled back to Scotland after 2012, taking both of her sister's ashes.

There will be no public viewing. Edna will be cremated and her ashes will be taken back to Ayr Cemetery, Scotland to be placed with her family.
