With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward Ignacious Hlafka, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Edward, age 83, left us on June 14, 2026. Born on July 24, 1942, in Maryland.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lafawn Hlafka. Together, they raised their children: Edward Hlafka Jr., Iris Hlafka, Daniel Shortt Sr., and Charles Shortt Sr. Edward was also a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Daniel Shortt Jr., Adam Shortt, Ashlee Shortt, Charles Shortt Jr., Joshua Shortt, William Alt, Jessica Alt, Jack Wheaty, Chris Wheaty, and Jessica Wheaty, as well as seven great-grandkids who brought him endless joy. Edward was preceded in death by his parents John and Iris Hlafka.

He was a man of many hobbies, in his free time Edward enjoyed collecting trains and coins, raising pigeons, working on cars, and chatting on CB radios.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date where family and friends will gather to celebrate Edward's remarkable life.

Rest in peace, Edward. You will be deeply missed.
