It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward "Butch" Houseknecht Sr., who left us peacefully on his 92nd birthday, October 28, 2026. Born on October 28, 1934, in Pennsylvania.
Above all, Edward was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, and their children: Edward Jr. (wife Sharon), David (wife Wendy), Stephen (wife Patricia), and Carol Gagen (husband Larry). Proud grandfather to Edward III, Shawn (fiancée Nicole), Rebecca (husband Joe Voelpel), Danielle (husband Cade Sanger), Leslie Sult (husband Lucas), Ashley Driggers, and Eric Driggers (and wife Dawn). Cherished great-grandfather of Annabelle, Sophia, Harleigh, Brody, and Asher. Edward's love and laughter will be deeply missed by his extensive family and many loving friends.
Edward was a proud veteran of the United States Army. After his military service, he dedicated many years to Baltimore City as a fireman, where he made significant contributions to the safety and well-being of his community. He was a man of many passions; he even played professional baseball and loved to hit the golf course whenever he could.
A public viewing will take place at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Monday November 2, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, allowing family and friends to pay their respects. The funeral service will be held the following day at the same location on Tuesday November 3, at 11:00 am. Following the service, we will proceed to Oak Lawn Cemetery for a graveside service where Edward will be laid to rest.
In celebrating a life well-lived, let us remember all the joy, laughter, and love Edward brought into our lives. He will forever remain in our hearts.
