It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward J. Sperling Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left this world on August 2, 2026. Edward was born on August 17, 1941, in Maryland, to the late Edward Sr and Mary.Edward is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Sperling, who was not only his beloved partner in life but also his exceptional caregiver. Together, they nurtured a warm and loving home for their daughter, Denine Brown, and her husband, Douglas. Edward cherished his role as a grandfather to Lauren Sandlin and her husband Ben, as well as Brooks Brown and his wife Amy Spadanuta Brown, and great-grandfather to Benjamin Sandlin III and Daphne Brown.

Affectionately known by all as "Pop", Edward found joy in simple pleasures, often visiting the casino and spending quiet evenings at home watching the Weather Channel and Judge Judy. He was also a passionate fan of the Baltimore Orioles. His inquisitive nature and humor were evident in his favorite phrase, "I have a question for ya," which he often used to connect with family and friends. Edward's love for his family was boundless, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorial gathering to honor Edward J. Sperling Jr. will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 PM followed by a memorial service beginning at 7:00 PM.
