It is deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Florita Pelone Hoke, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM after a courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully with husband, Melvin, stepson Dewey Melvin and his wife Argie.

Florita was born on December 21, 1962, in Inabanga, Bohol, Philippines to Felomino and Venancia, where she spent her early years surrounded by family and community. She graduated in Accountancy at the University of Bohol and began her professional career as an accountant at Norkis Trading in Mandaue, Cebu, demonstrating the strong work ethic and dedication that would define her life.

In April 1999, Florita traveled to the United States as the fiancee of Melvin Rhinehart Hoke, the love of her life. They were joyfully united in marriage on June 18, 1999, beginning a beautiful journey together built on devotion, partnership and enduring love. They settled and made their home at 8210 Northview Road, Dundalk MD, where Florita created a warm and welcoming space for Melvin and friends. She loves her garden and enjoys fishing, crabbing, and being in the boat with Melvin.

Florita was part of several companies and dedicated the last 12 years of her life in the service to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she was respected for her commitment, kindness, and professionalism. She touched many lives through her work and cheerful spirit.

She is loving survived by her devoted husband, Melvin Rhinehart Hoke; her siblings, Sulpecio Pelone and Saturnina Vinas; her cherished nephews and nieces; and her step-daughter Tonya; stepson, Melvin Dewey and wife, Argie. Flortia's love for her family was steadfast and unconditional.

Florita will be remembered for her quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering faith. Though her time with us feels far too short, her legacy of love and perserverance will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, located at 7110 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk MD 21222 on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM with a Memorial Service to follow.

Flowers are warmly welcomed as an expression of sympathy and remembrance.
