Ira Mitchell

Ira Lynn Mitchell, Sr., 85 years old, of Dundalk, MD, went home to be with The Lord on June 1, 2024.

Lynn was born on October 18, 1938, in Philippi, WV, born to Harter Mitchell and Corbel Teeter. He will be missed by his loving family, his wife of 61 years, Joanne Erma, loving son, Ira Lynn, Jr., daughter, Sharlene Maria Hartzell, grandchildren, Sean and his wife Christina Mitchell and Lauren Hartzell, sister and brother in laws Biff and Mary Louise Anderson, John and Erma Jane Hagert, beloved Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father Harter Mitchell, mother Corbel Mitchell and beloved sister Jean Crews.

Lynn retired from General Motors in 1995 with 30 years of service. He was a member of the former Colgate Baptist Church for 46 years and most recently attended Freedom Baptist Church. He was a proud member of The Ancient and Honorable Mechanical Company of Baltimore, Maryland.

Lynn enjoyed working on cars, going crabbing, bowling, attending antique car shows and to see The Blue Angels perform. He loved family vacations to his hometown of Philippi, WV, Ocean City, camping in Harper's Ferry, bus trips, train and boat rides, as well as walking around Ft. McHenry.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Freedom Baptist Church, 7001 German Hill Road, Dundalk, MD 21222, Missionary Fund or Hope and Help Mission. Additionally, contributions to your local Volunteer Fire Department.

A public visitation for Lynn will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Rd. on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A funeral service to celebrate Lynn's life will be on Thursday 11 am from the funeral home. Interment to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
