Obituary

Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Richard Alexander, who left us peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the age of 86. Jim lived a life marked by hard work, family, and a spirit of generosity that touched everyone around him.

Jim dedicated 38 years of his life as an electrician at Bethlehem Steel Ship Yard, where he was known for his exceptional skills and tireless work ethic. Jim was a devoted husband to the late Joyce Alexander. He was a proud father to his son, James Alexander, and his daughter, Lisa Alexander, a beloved father-in-law to Bridgette Alexander, and a cherished grandfather to Natassia Redelius, James Alexander II, Fahreyn Renner, Joshua Alexander, and Jasmine Alexander. Jim's family extended further with three great-grandchildren, Carson, Cooper, and Elaina, who brought him immense joy and brother Edward Van Swift.

Outside of work, Jim embraced life. He was an avid hunter, a gifted archer, and a lover of golf. Friends and family alike will remember him as a handyman always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was fixing a problem or sharing a laugh. Jim's warmth and kindness created a lasting legacy that will be cherished by those who knew him.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk from 3:00 - 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place the following day, Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org in honor of Jim, whose generosity and spirit will live on in the hearts of those he cherished.

As we reflect on Jim's life, we invite everyone who loved him to join us in celebrating the remarkable man he was. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will carry on in the lives he touched.
