Rev. James Clifford Caris

Jim Caris peacefully passed away on Friday, March 31st. He is the beloved husband of Lorraine Caris, loving father of Jeremy and his wife Amanda from Knoxville, TN and Jesse and his wife Christie from Delaware, cherished grandfather of Joel & Noah and Cassie & Brandon. He is also survived by his sister Sandy Chappell and her husband Archie.

Jim was born in Danville, PA on November 25, 1953. He attended Milton Area High School and graduated in 1971. He met his beautiful wife Lorraine at Christ Wesleyan Church in 1972 at the age of 19 and they were married on June 23, 1973.

Jim enlisted in the Air Force in 1973 and served until 1980. During this time in active duty, him and Lorraine had two sons, Jeremy and Jesse. He transitioned into full time ministry from the Air Force and obtained his business degree and continued with his studies in ministry.

He was a youth pastor for many years before becoming a senior pastor for over 40 years. He was the chaplain at the North Point Volunteer Fire Department while being a pastor at Bethel Assembly of God and also coached for Weight Watchers in the Baltimore area.

Jim Caris didn't know a stranger. He was a true servant to the community and friend to all. He was loved and loved well. He will be deeply missed by so many.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 15th, at Eastern Assembly of God Church, 7923 Wise Avenue, from 11:00 AM- 12 noon followed by a memorial service. Light refreshments will follow at the church. Please omit flowers.
