Judy Loftus

Judy Chidester Loftus passed away peacefully, surrounded by love. She’s now reunited with her beloved husband of 53 years, James Loftus—together again.

Judy was the proud mom of Jennifer Adelung, Jaime Ryan, and James Loftus. She adored her grandchildren—Emily Leonard and her husband Zach, Lauren Adelung, Evan Ryan, and Colin Loftus. They were her world, and she carried their love in her heart every day.

She’s also reunited in Heaven with her parents, Ida and Enzel Chidester, her sister Sandra, and her brother-in-law Dan Meyer. We know they welcomed her home with open arms.

Judy spent many years at Mercy Hospital, where she wasn’t just an employee—she was part of the heart and soul of the place — and served as a Mercy Ambassador. People there loved her for her kindness, her warmth, and her way of making everyone feel like they mattered.

She had a deep love for the ocean—especially Atlantic City, where she and James made so many special memories. Judy found joy in life’s little beauties—sunflowers, sunrises, and her signature red hair that matched her vibrant spirit. She loved angels, and now she walks among them.

She’s survived by her sister Peggy and brother-in-law Earl Howard, sister- in- law Betty Lou and husband Tony Jernigan, brother- in- law Dan and wife Cheryl Loftus with many nieces, nephews and dear friends who became like family. In her later years, Judy embraced social media, especially Facebook, as a way to stay close to the people she loved. Her posts, messages, and check-ins brought smiles to so many.

Judy was full of love, strong in quiet ways, and graceful through life’s ups and downs. We’ll miss her dearly—but we’ll carry her with us, always.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during public viewing on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road from 3:00-5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. A funeral service to honor Judy will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
