Kate Sumpter

Kate Sumpter was born in Red Ash Virginia on October 10, 1923. she was one of 14 children born to Issac and Ada Elswick. She was married to the late James Sumpter, and had three daughters, Sandra Jean Joyce, Janet Kay Sinclair and the late Annette Sumpter. She also had two grandsons, Joseph Joyce and Michael Sumpter. She had three great grandchildren, Steven Dishon, Michael Joyce and Katelyn Joyce.

She loved to quilt and crochet. She made enough quilts to cover the world. She is the last survivor of her family and they will be all together once again.

The family will receive friends at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Rd. on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 10-11 am. A graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery at 11:15 am.
