It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kimberly Hope Whiteley, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, who left us on August 15, 2026. Born on August 20, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland, Kimberly was a vibrant spirit full of life, laughter, and love.
She is survived by her children, Lacie A. Setser and her husband, Steven Setser; Adam F. Whiteley; Bethany L. Whiteley and her fiancée, Nicholas Ferris; Nathaniel F. Whiteley and his wife, Kelly Whiteley; Corey R. Whiteley, and their father, Gary F. Whiteley; in addition to her cherished grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Grammy", Kennedy, Aviana, Camille, Rosalie, and two little ones on the way: baby Whiteley and baby Ferris; stepmother, Antoinette Thiess (née Mason); stepfather, Anthony Petrecca, and mother, Bernadette Petrecca (née Strejcek); along with 10 siblings and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kimberly is preceded in death by her late father, Frederick Thiess Sr. and her niece, Sunshine Royston.
Kimberly spent her early childhood in the east side of Baltimore City before moving to Baltimore County and graduating from Perry Hall High School. She then moved north again in later years to raise her children in Baltimore County's Hereford Zone, where she was an active member of the community until her passing. Her roles included being a home maker for many years before later working for Baltimore County Public Schools as a building service worker at Hereford High School. Kimberly enjoyed many passions, from gardening and crocheting to savoring her daily cup of coffee. An outspoken and spirited person, she was always the life of the party and a force to be reckoned with. Above all, her most cherished role was being a proud and loving mother and grandmother, which brought her endless joy.
Kimberly's family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating her life. There will be a public viewing at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 p.m.
A Catholic funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 10003 Bird River Rd., Middle River, MD, on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow immediately at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens in Middle River, MD. A celebration of life will then take place at Harewood Park Community Hall, 12940 Community Rd., Middle River, MD, following the burial.
Rest in peace, Kimmy. You will be missed more than words can express.
