Laura Lynn Buxenstein, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away at home on March 15, 2026, surrounded by her family after a hard-fought battle with small cell lung cancer.
She was born on May 6, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Dorothy Buxenstein and the late Paul Buxenstein.
Laura was known for her humor, sarcasm, and the way she could make people laugh-even in difficult moments. She loved learning and had a strong interest in medical topics, often reading medical books and always wanting to understand how things worked. She followed many missing children's cases and always hoped, against all odds, for them to be found. She also loved lighthearted animal videos, often sharing them with family to brighten their day, and had a special bond with her chihuahuas, who were truly her world.
She spent many years working in the food industry, but her favorite role was being a mother. She and her husband raised their daughters, Amanda and Kristi, and created a home filled with warmth, humor, and love.
Throughout her illness, she faced many difficult challenges with resilience, a reflection of the strength she carried throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mark Stouten; her daughters, Amanda Buxenstein (Ronald Mathers) and Kristi Buxenstein (Donald Woolfrey); her son, Mark Stouten Jr. (Lauren Stouten); her mother, Dorothy Buxenstein; her brothers, Russell and Dennis Buxenstein; and her grandchildren, Cali Stouten and Jacob Mathers.
A public viewing will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Saturday March 21, 2026 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM with a funeral service to follow.
Laura will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her humor, her strength, and the love she showed in everyday moments.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Laura's honor to causes she genuinely cared about-protecting children and animals: National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS)
Thank you so much for your love and support.
