Remembering Louis Kopsies

May 26, 1932 - April 8, 2025

Louis Kopsies, a longtime resident of Baltimore, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on May 26, 1932, in the Bronx, New York City, Louis was the beloved son of the late Peter and Helen Kopsies, who were both natives of Greece.

His early childhood was spent in New York City until the age of three, when his parents returned to Greece in 1935. Louis lived in Greece until 1947, when he returned to the United States.Louis was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Stavroula "Stella" (Hios) Kopsies, who passed away on December 24, 2015. Their enduring love and partnership were a testament to their devotion to one another. He was also predeceased by his dear sister, Jennie Kopsies Bacas, in 2014.

He is survived by his cherished family, including his niece, Susan Bacas Katsanos and her husband Alex, along with their children, Eleni and Christopher; and his nephew, John Bacas and his wife Sophia, and their sons, Costantinos and Peter Bacas.

Louis was also fondly remembered by Stella's family: her brother, George Hios of Connecticut, and his wife Glika, along with their children, Maria, Patricia, and Nicholas. He also leaves behind the family of Stella's late sister, Vasiliki, including her husband, George Mandrapilias, and their children, Olga Mandalas and her late husband Dimitri. Olga is survived by their three children and six grandchildren. He is also survived by Peter Mandrapilas and his wife Arleen, along with their daughter and two grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sister Dimitra, who was married to the late Gregory Atsaves.Louis will be remembered for love of people, Jehovah God, and teaching the bible.

A memorial service honoring the life of Louis Kopsies will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 364 Upperlanding Road, Essex, MD 21221.
