Margaret Leota Hurd nee Fullmer, 99, of Sparrows Point Maryland, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday evening June 24, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter James Hurd, the love of her life, who predeceased her in 1994.
She was born April 29, 1923, in McAdoo, Pennsylvania. She was a devoted mother of Lois Wilson, Elaine Loughlin, & Ruth Hurd; dear grandmother of James, Jennifer, Alison, Rachel, Mathew, Maggie and Craig; as well as 12 great grandchildren.
Leota was an active member at Patapsco United Methodist Church and was President of the United Methodist Women. She lived by her faith and had a true heart of a servant; always to be counted on as a Sunday school teacher and volunteering for many dinners and luncheons. She was in the church choir and hymns were a great source of comfort and joy that she shared with her children and grandchildren.
Leota enjoyed crafting and sewing, starting with ceramics in her sister's basement and mastering crocheting, sewing and needlework. It is likely you will find one of her beautiful handmade treasure's displayed during the holidays in her children and grandchildren's homes.
She was awarded Lifetime Membership in the PTA at Gray Manor Elementary and the Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1969.
