Nick attended Dundalk Elementary, Dundalk Junior High School, and was a 1970 graduate of Dundalk High School. An honor student, he was nominated president of his senior class, and led his team to a win on the local television show, "It's Academic". It was in high school that Nick became inspired to pursue a career in law after reading the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. He received a full academic scholarship to The University of Maryland, College Park, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1974, and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1980. Nick worked his way through law school as a history teacher for the Baltimore City public school system, and at the St. Rita School in Dundalk. Following law school, Nick joined a law firm in Harford County, then went into private practice specializing in criminal law. His entire legal career spanned over 40 years, having offices in both Bel Air and Dundalk. Among his peers, Nick was a highly respected attorney. He was a member of the Maryland Bar Association and the Trial Lawyers Association.

Additionally, Nick volunteered his legal skills to the local community by supervising paralegal students from Harford Community College for over 10 years. He helped over 25 students gain valuable legal experience in his law offices.

An avid reader, Nick spent a great deal of time in the local library and was known to strike conversations with anyone about politics, sports, and his favorite restaurants. He loved playing golf and devoted a lot of his free time to the sport in his younger years. Most importantly, Nick was a very loving and devoted family man. Known for his very distinct and infectious laugh, he took tremendous pride in his family, mainly his five nieces and their children.

Nick is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Frey and Donna Holland, both of Baltimore. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Holland; 5 nieces, and 11 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Louis DeSisco, and brother-in-law, Robert Frey.
