Polychronis Alafassos

Polychronis Alafassos, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 15, at the age of 83. Born on February 25, 1941, in Piraeus, Greece, Polychronis embarked on a life journey filled with love, passion, and dedication.

Polychronis and his beloved wife Catherine settled in Baltimore, Maryland and began a beautiful journey of partnership and companionship that lasted over five decades. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children, Mike, Spiro, and Gina,instilling in them values of kindness, perseverance, and family.

Polychronis found joy in simple pleasures, spending his leisure time cheering for his favorite soccer team, Olympiacos Piraeus, and passionately supporting his beloved baseball team, the Baltimore Orioles. His dedication to his favorite sports teams mirrored his commitment to his family and work.

For over 40 years, Polychronis worked tirelessly as a ship chandler for Atlantic Steamers Supply Company, where he was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and reliability. His dedication to his profession earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.

Polychronis leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Catherine, his three children, Mike, Spiro, and Gina, daughter-in-law Penny, his adoring grandchildren, Katerina, Katerina, Polychronis, and Christina, and his brother Panayiotis and sister Maria and many nieces and nephews.

His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will receive friends at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Rd. on Sunday form 4-7 pm. A funeral service for Polychronis will be held Monday morning 11 am at St. Nicholas Greek orthodox Church, 520 Ponca St, Baltimore, MD 21224. Interment to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
