Obituary

Listen to Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Regina (Jeane) L. Coker, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, announce her passing on March 25, 2026 at the age of 83. Jeane was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 28, 1942 to Louise (Henry) and Verland Hendley. She lived in Dundalk for the last 21 years.

Jeane was a loving wife to her late husband William (Bill) G. Coker, Jr. She was a devoted, inspirational mother to her children, including daughter Karen Coker-Duke and son-in-law Daniel Duke; son Christopher Coker; and son Danny Coker and daughter-in-law Dana Coker. She was a cherished and doting grandmother to granddaughters Audrey Coker and Katie Coker. Jeane is also survived by her sister Mary Sue Miller and by her niece and nephew Elaine Bragg and Gordon Sennett.

Willing to navigate digital technology, Jeane stayed connected with her wide circle of friends and family via social media, email, and text messages. She was happy discussing ideas and current events and was well-read, maintaining online correspondence with her favorite romance authors. Jeane enjoyed British comedies, a love that she and Bill passed onto their children, but she also enjoyed meaty period dramas. She challenged herself by working crossword puzzles and logic problems to keep her mind sharp and flexible. Jeane especially enjoyed Baltimore Orioles baseball and Washington Capitals hockey, sharing many evenings with her family in front of the tv cheering for her teams.

Jeane received an Associate's degree from Baltimore Junior College and embarked on a career with food industry leader McCormick and Company at their downtown Baltimore location as the executive assistant to the senior vice president of recipe development. That experience fueled her love of cooking and also many delicious dinners at the Coker household. After a long stint as a stay-at-home mom, Jeane returned to the workforce as the administrative assistant at New Star Ship Supply in the 1990s. She completed her career as a reporting specialist for another industry leader T. Rowe Price. Jeane was an outstanding employee and team member, always assisting her colleagues any way she could.

Jeane's exceptional character and integrity were obvious after even the briefest of interactions. She was a no-nonsense person who was not easily intimidated and who believed unequivocally in fairness. To family and friends, she was the best listener and encourager. Jeane was always supportive and inspired others to be true to themselves. Her mantra was unconditional love, something she actively practiced and extended beyond her immediate family into her circle of friends and acquaintances. Jeane will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren and in those whose lives she made better.

Jeane's public viewing will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Thursday, April 9 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Her Celebration of Life will be at the same location on Friday, April 10 at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a graveside service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Dundalk.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jeane's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
