It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Daniel Benson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on November 20, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on January 24, 1952, in Tennessee, Richard spent his life dedicated to his family and his work as a car hauler for Anchor Freight Local 557 in Dundalk, Maryland.

Richard is lovingly remembered as the devoted husband of Cathy Martin-Benson. He was a proud father to David Benson and Christopher Martin, always emphasizing the importance of family and values. His legacy will continue to thrive through his beloved grandchildren, Hannah Fowler, Thomas Martin, Kyle Martin, and Haydon Benson, who brought him immeasurable joy.

Richard shared many special moments with his siblings, Barbara Hassler, John Allen Benson, Lisa Lynn Arnold, Wynn Cole, and Kathy Annette "Peanut" Hosek. He was preceded in death by his dear siblings Bobby Benson, Sarah Ellen Sanders, and Mary "Beckie" Miller, whose memories he held dear in his heart. He was also a loving brother-in-law to Bonnie Simons and her husband John, and he leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

An avid deer hunter, Richard found peace in the great outdoors. He was a passionate supporter of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, delighting in the camaraderie and excitement of game days.
