It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard H. Smith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on November 24, 1943, in Maryland, Richard dedicated his life to serving his community, notably as a crossing guard for Baltimore County Public Schools, where he ensured the safety of children and families for many years.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Pat Smith, whose love and companionship were the foundation of his life. He leaves behind his two sons, Richard Smith and William Smith , who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. He was also a devoted father to his late son, Michael Smith.

A proud grandfather, Richard cherished the time spent with his grandchildren: Michael Howell, Joey Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Tyler Smith, Kyle Smith, Christian Smith, and Wilson Smith. His legacy continues through his beloved great-grandchildren: Emmett, Ellis, Gracelyn, and Rowan, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

Richard's passion for playing pool, shuffleboard, and darts in local leagues, as well as his love for fishing and crabbing, brought him great happiness and countless memories with family and friends.

In this time of grief, may we all find comfort in the wonderful memories of Richard's life. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered.
