On May 3, 2022; Rose A. (Gregg) Dougherty passed away at age of 96. She was a devoted mother to James M. Dougherty (Karen), JoAnn Maher (Stephen), cherished “Nana” to Christina Merkel, Bryan Schappell (Aimee), Kirsten Butler (Ross) and Marisa Leon (Dino) and great-grandmother to Gavyn, Bryn, Taylor, Reilly, and Sloane.

Born in Monessen, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Angelo and Josephine Gregg. When she was 6 the family moved to Baltimore. Rose attended Sacred Heart of Mary school in Dundalk and Clara Barton Business school graduating in 1943 and began her career at Western Electric.

At a Knights of Columbus dance, she met the love of her life James Dougherty of Annapolis. On September 12, 1953, they married and moved to Annapolis. Rose worked at C&P Telephone in Annapolis until her son Jimmy was born, she moved back to Dundalk. After her daughter JoAnn was born, she became a stay at home mom.

In 1965 she went back to work at Western Electric Point Breeze and Cockeysville until retiring in 1988. While employed at Point Breeze she served as 2 nd Vice President of the Point Breeze Club, chairwomen for the “Hello Charlie” pageant and annual picnic. She joined the Point Breeze Telephone Pioneer Life Member club in 1989 holding many positions, chairwomen for all charitable contribution, president from 2009-2011 and volunteering to help with the annual Christmas party, shrimp feast and the spring reunions.

After retiring she was a very active volunteer to many organizations, Dundalk Historical Society, the American Red Cross for 20 years, the Chimes, and St. Rita’s sodality and GBMC hospital for 10 years. She was a member of the Dundalk Sons of Italy, Ateaze Senior Center, the Dundalk Community College camera club, and Chi Sigma Sorority for more than 60 years where she met many longtime friends.

Rose was proceeded by her parents, husband of 66 years James, 2 sisters Evelyn and Dolores.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9th from 4 PM- 7 PM at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road. A service to celebrate Rose's life will be held on Tuesday, May 10th, 10:00 AM, at St. Rita's Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at Meadowridge Memorial Gardens, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to Baltimore Ronald House Charity, 1 Aisquith Street, Baltimore, MD 21202 or Stella Maris Hospice, 2300 Dulaney Valley Rd., Timonium, MD 21093.
