The meaning of the name Valerie is “Strong”
To know her you would of known she was a very strong willed woman, who was extremely selfless. Knowing Valerie was understanding that she valued family. Loved beaches, pools, the holidays and lastly arts and crafts. She also enjoyed cooking and going to the flea market with her sister Joann. Valerie had an unique aura and a smile that would radiate the room. Valerie spent her younger years in Scranton, PA and Baltimore , MD. While in Baltimore, MD she met Billie Fink the guy who she believed at the time won her heart.
Billie and Valerie eventually tied the knot, bringing three healthy kids into the world. As time passed the couple divorced. Valerie focused on her kids and began to thrive and find herself. While visiting friends in Larksville, PA she met the most amazing man that could’ve ever come her way Mr. Robert (Bob) Allen Knell Sr. They fell in love and made their way back to Baltimore where they tied the knot and created their very own bundle of joy, Donna.
Valerie was one who never thought twice about caring for the ones she loved. Valerie enjoyed doing a variety of crafts. Gifting loved ones with baby photo albums, blankets, booties, hats and scarfs. Personalized keepsakes they’d have to treasure forever. Her family was everything to her. Val loved to bake and everyone counted on those pumpkin rolls and cookies for the holidays. It didn't stop there, when her kids were young she made all their easter candy from scratch.
She touched so many lives. In addition to homemaking she was a supervisor at Bancroft Homes where she prepared houses. Where clients would make big investments, find stability an raise families of their own. After that job closed, she worked at Kellers Bakery and Medo which she retired from. She never once shied away from being an amazing Mother, Gramma and Nana.. She spent her last years surrounded by her grands and great grands crafting, baking and making the holidays the most memorable and magical for them. Something she treasured most.
On July 16, 2024 God decided that it was Val’s time to come home and her fight ended that morning.
