William Joseph Hayes

William “Bill” Hayes was a loving, caring, selfless, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great  grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Bill passed away in the comfort of his home peacefully with his  family March 26, 2021 at the age of 90. 

Bill was born in Fayetteville, WV to the late Drury & Ruth Hayes on March 14, 1931. He was survived by  his beloved wife of 63 years Eunice M. Hayes, his daughter Ruth Long and husband Hayes, his daughter  Barbara Kline and her husband Norman; his grandchildren Jenn, Brock, Megan, Eric, Christina (who was  raised by her grandparents from age 9) Christopher and Abby. Bill had 8 great grandchildren; Brittany, Landen, Addyson, Hunter, Chase, Anderson William, Felicity and Nova; his dear sister Nadine Barranco (Florida), his brother-in-law Les Mason (California) and his many nieces and nephews. He always  boasted he was truly blessed by God. 

Bill is predeceased by his daughter Deborah Lemmon and grandson William Lemmon and his siblings,  Drury, Henrietta, Dorothy, Harold, Sarah, Donia, Lucille, Jack, Margret, Donald and in-laws Shirley, Joyce, Lou, Jeannette,  Eddie, & Linda. 

A Korean War Veteran, Bill settled in Maryland and worked at Western Electric. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and bowling. But his greatest love was his family.

Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8. A funeral service celebrating Bill's life will be held Wednesday at the funeral home at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
