Yvonne D. Shirk, 59, of Dundalk, Maryland, passed away on July 18, 2025.
Yvonne is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Rodney D. Shirk; her daughter, Brittany Shirk, and her partner, Stephen Knickman; her son, Dakota Shirk, and his wife, Alyssa Shirk; her brother, Carmine Cresta II; and her cherished grandchildren, Lydia Knickman and Lux Knickman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmine and Alice Cresta, and her brothers, Joseph Cresta and Carl Cresta.
Yvonne will be remembered for her kind heart, her deep love for her family, and her joy in life’s simple pleasures — especially visits to the beach, time spent with her grandchildren, and moments shared with her beloved dog, Sandy. She was known for her kindness, outgoing personality, and her ability to light up any room she entered. She had a natural ability to make friends wherever she went and would do anything for anyone in need. Above all, she treasured the bond she shared with Rodney — her true soulmate and best friend — with whom she shared her life since 1988.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 3–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road.
A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., with Father Kevin Mueller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to BARCS https://www.barcs.org/donate , in honor of Yvonne’s love for animals—a cause that was very close to her heart.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and cherish the lifelong memories she leaves behind.
